Unity Square in New Brunswick Receives Historic Contribution Through NJ Neighborhood Revitalization Tax Credit Program

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J., June 24 /PRNewswire/ -- NJ Department of Community
Affairs is pleased to announce that sanofi-aventis allocates $1,000,000 to
the Neighborhood Revitalization Tax Credit Program, NJ Department of
Community Affairs. This is the largest contribution committed to one
nonprofit organization since the inception of the New Jersey Neighborhood
Revitalization Tax Credit Program. The Program provides business entities a
100 percent tax credit for funds provided to approved nonprofit entities
carrying out comprehensive revitalization plans. The presentation will take
place on June 25, 2008 at 10:30 a.m., 142 Suydam Street, New Brunswick, NJ
08901.

The $1,000,000 is allocated towards the Unity Square Revitalization
Project, part of the Housing and Social Concerns division at Catholic
Charities, Diocese of Metuchen. Unity Square is 37 square blocks in New
Brunswick between Commercial and Livingston Avenues and Sanford and Welton
Streets. This primarily Latino and African American neighborhood has a
population of 5,900 people, of which 24% live in poverty. The diversity of
the neighborhood reflects the richness and opportunities in this area which
have been captured in the revitalization projects.

The sanofi-aventis funding is aimed at improving local housing.
Additional funds will be used to extend the hours of the St. John's Health
and Family Service Center, which is also located in the neighborhood.
"Sanofi-aventis is providing direct assistance to the residents of the
area. For example, it is important that St. John's be fully staffed and
properly supplied to provide services," said Nancy Finn, Unity Square
Program Director. "The residents in the neighborhood would otherwise use
the emergency room since many are uninsured and underinsured."

For additional information regarding the Unity Square Revitalization
project, please contact Nancy Finn, Unity Square Program Manager, at
