Competitors to Go Head-to-Head to Find the One Challenger Who Can Assemble a
Computer Faster than Anyone Else
NEW YORK, June 25 /PRNewswire/ -- ExtremeTech
(http://www.extremetech.com), Ziff Davis Internet's site for hardcore
technology enthusiasts, will crown America's Fastest Geek as part of a two-day
competition at PC Expo (TechXNY) on Tuesday, June 26 and Wednesday, June 27 at
the Jacob Javits Convention Center. The competition will take place in booth
#4322. Ziff Davis Internet is the online subsidiary of Ziff Davis Media Inc.
During the ExtremeTech Presents America's Fastest Geek event, show
attendees will compete against each other in timed heats to find the one
challenger who can assemble a fully functioning computer system from its basic
components faster than anyone else. The event will be completely powered using
technology and PC components provided by Systemax (http://www.systemax.com, booth
#4544), a leading manufacturer and distributor of private label and name-brand
PC hardware and computer and industrial products.
"Novices need not apply here," said Bill Machrone, a 19-year technology
journalist and the host of ExtremeTech Presents America's Fastest Geek. "This
competition is for the extreme technologists who love to get under the hood of
their PCs and tinker. It's the ultimate technology challenge, and we can't
wait to watch them amaze us with their technical know-how and dexterity."
ExtremeTech will host five heats at its booth on both Tuesday and
Wednesday with four contestants competing in each timed event. The first
twenty show attendees on each day of the competition that qualify at
ExtremeTech booth will get to participate in the day's heats. Competition
heats take place on Tuesday, June 26 at 11:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m., 1:00p.m., 2:00
p.m. and at 3:00 p.m. and on Wednesday, June 27th at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m.,
12:30 p.m., 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. On Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. the two
contestants with the fastest times from Tuesday will compete against the two
speediest participants from Wednesday for the title of America's Fastest Geek,
and the grand prize: a top-of-the-line chrome PC custom designed by
ExtremeTech Technology Analyst Loyd Case.
