Fortis Health President and CEO Gives Key Testimony at Wisconsin Governor's First Healthcare Listening Session

Cutler Offered Solutions to Address (State's) Escalating Healthcare Dilemma

MILWAUKEE, June 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Ben Cutler, President and CEO of
Milwaukee-based Fortis Health, testified Monday at the first of Wisconsin Gov.
Scott McCallum's series of Healthcare Listening Sessions. The session, held
at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee campus, allowed McCallum to hear
firsthand what information the state can provide to consumers and employers to
help them maximize their healthcare dollar. Escalating healthcare costs and
problems with healthcare accessibility have necessitated the series of summer
listening sessions around Wisconsin.
As incoming Chair of the Health Insurance Association of America (HIAA),
Board Member of the Washington Business on Health (WBGH) and Wellness Councils
of America (WELCOA), Cutler brought a national perspective to Wisconsin's
healthcare costs issue.
"Fortis Health is committed to making healthcare affordable and accessible
for Wisconsin residents and those nationwide," said Cutler. "The Healthcare
Listening Sessions are the perfect opportunity for Wisconsin healthcare
providers to work directly with Gov. McCallum to create flexible solutions to
this rising national problem."
In his testimony, Cutler discussed Fortis Health's innovative products,
including Medical Savings Accounts (MSAs), which combine a pre-tax savings
account and high-deductible health insurance policy; Short Term Medical
Insurance, designed to fill short gaps in health insurance between 35 and 185
days; and defined contribution and non-traditional products. Recently, Cutler
headlined a Capitol Hill briefing addressing these same issues.
Fortis Health has taken an active leadership role in the health insurance
industry. The 110-year-old company was instrumental in the pilot MSA program,
pioneered the first individual MSA and STM products and is currently the
nation's leader in both product categories.
The Healthcare Listening Sessions are open to the public, with the next
session to be announced.
