E Commerce Group Teams With NYCE to Enable Debit Cardholders to Make Real-Time Bill Payments

Added Payment Convenience Benefits Billers and Their Customers

    NEW YORK, June 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- E Commerce Group (ECG), a
division of First Data Corp. (NYSE: FDC), and a leading provider of integrated
electronic payment solutions and financial services software, today announced
its Speedpay(R) electronic bill payment technology now enables billers to
accept ATM and debit card payments from customers using NYCE-branded debit
cards. Potential billers include insurance companies, utilities, educational
lenders and government agencies.
With debit payment capability, cardholders of participating financial
institutions now have the convenience of paying electricity, water, credit
card and mortgage bills electronically by direct debit from their savings or
checking account.
"ATM/debit card payments provide a compelling payment option for billers
seeking effective payment alternatives," said Marc Mehl, vice president at E
Commerce Group. "E Commerce Group is committed to providing a variety of
payment options to our clients, enabling them to reduce costs while improving
customer service."
This enhancement to the Speedpay service is the result of ECG's recent
certification to the NYCE network's Enhanced Message Structure (EMS)
specification. The advent of EMS paved the way for NYCE cardholders to move
funds in real time between accounts at different banks, or pay bills over the
Internet and telephone.
Speedpay technology allows companies to receive, process and integrate
bill payments from multiple sources including call centers, automated voice
response units and the Internet. A single integrated platform allows
transactions to be processed and credited to customers' accounts timely and
seamless. The technology can be custom-tailored to meet the specific customer
account management or financial reporting requirements of many organizations.
Speedpay is used by more than 1,200 of the nation's leading billers in the
utilities, telecommunications, financial services and retail industries.
