PTC(R), web2CAD(TM) and Thomas Register(R) Build World's Largest 3D Component Portal for Pro/ENGINEER(R) Wildfire(TM)

The world's leading 3D CAD component portals are integrated within
Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire, providing drag-and-drop for native formats of millions
of parts from over 400 global suppliers

NEEDHAM, Mass., June 25 /PRNewswire/ -- PTC (Nasdaq: PMTC), the product
development company(TM), Thomas Register, the world's most comprehensive
information resource for supply-chain sourcing and purchasing, and web2CAD,
the leading provider of 3D CAD component catalog software solutions and
worldwide portal-provider, today announced the availability of the world's
largest 3D component portal with full integration into Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire.
PTC is extending its existing content partnership with Thomas Register by
incorporating the European and Japanese CAD content of web2CAD, creating the
world's largest content portal with over 400 supplier component catalogs. The
comprehensive portal provides drag-and-drop access to over 45 million CAD
models and drawings and provides localized access in English, Japanese,
German, French, Italian and Portuguese. web2CAD's integration of PTC's
GRANITE(TM) Interoperability kernel allows a Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire user to
directly drag a CAD model from the portal into an active design session
without translation.
Via the new Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire component portal, customers are now able
to get accurate, up to date CAD models from suppliers around the world, or
around the block. For users looking to spend less time on the phone or
flipping through catalogs, this has an immediate benefit.
"Adding web2CAD content to the Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire portal creates an
unmatched global CAD resource. Simple downloads, powerful content and
connection to hundreds of suppliers all over the world further offer our
customers the support they need to increase engineering productivity and
achieve faster time to market," said Carsten Hochmuth, Director of the
enterprise software partner program at PTC.
Rainer Deubel, chief operating officer, web2CAD AG adds, "partnering with
the leading product development software company and creating the world's
largest 3D content library will enable more users to benefit from CAD
content."
The component portal can be found on the PTC 'Catalog Directory' at
http://catalogs.ptc.com or through the Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire interface.
