ATF Partners With FOX 2 (WJBK-TV) and the Detroit Red Wings to Produce Public Service Announcement on Fireworks, Explosives Safety

DETROIT, June 25 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Bureau of Alcohol,
Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) recently partnered with Fox 2
Detroit and the Detroit Red Wings to produce a Public Service Announcement
(PSA) that is currently airing in the Detroit area. The PSA encourages the
public to be safe and to provide information to ATF if they are aware of
illegal fireworks or explosives activity.

On July 2, 2007, a mother of three young boys lost her life in
Melvindale, Mich., after she was struck in the face by an illegally
obtained commercial display firework. On July 4, 2007, an explosion took
place in Clarkston, Mich., where two brothers were attempting to
manufacture M-80-type explosive devices. Both brothers subsequently died
from injuries received in this explosion.

Thomas E. Brandon, special agent in charge of ATF in Michigan said,
"Taking a proactive approach to fireworks safety is very important,
especially as the Fourth of July approaches. By partnering on this PSA with
FOX 2 and the Detroit Red Wings we hope to avoid the tragedies that we
experienced in the Detroit area last year. I encourage everyone to be safe
this Fourth of July season, and if anyone is aware of illegal explosives
activity taking place, I encourage them to call 888-ATF-BOMB. If you want
to see fireworks, go to one of the many shows put on by the professionals
in our area."

ATF is the lead federal law enforcement agency with jurisdiction in
violent crimes involving explosives, and regulates the explosives industry.
