Ricoh Silicon Valley Announces Availability of eCabinet 2100

New, Powerful Rack Mount Model and Version 2 Software Are the Newest Addition
To the eCabinet Family of Products

NEW YORK, PC Expo Booth #4516, June 26th /PRNewswire/ -- Ricoh Silicon
Valley, Inc. (RSV) today announced the availability of the eCabinet 2100.
Designed for enterprise-level workgroups and users to quickly and easily save,
organize, archive, and share information, the eCabinet 2100 provides a
cost-effective, electronic filing solution for document-intensive environments
worldwide. With task-based features that integrate seamlessly with tools like
Microsoft Explorer(R) and Outlook(R), the eCabinet 2100 simplifies file
management and bridges the gap between paper and digital document management.
Attached to existing network infrastructures, the eCabinet 2100
communicates with network peripherals -- copiers, scanners, fax machines,
printers, and even PCs (including Web and email content) -- storing files
without creating network bottlenecks. Saved information is automatically
indexed and can be routed to users and workgroups, making search and retrieval
of critical business documents a snap. Task-based features are accessed from
the simple convenience of a standard Web browser, so it is also easy to use.

    eCabinet 2100 features include:
-- Scalable Storage Solutions. eCabinet automatically and intelligently
archives a nearly limitless number of documents when augmented on-site via NFS
or CD/DVD-R WORM storage, or offsite via encrypted internet-based HTTP
protocols. Or documents can be backed up offsite via encrypted internet-based
HTTP protocols. WORM-based eCabinet solutions are ideal for companies with
governmental document retention requirements. With the ability to
automatically index and back up all documents and files eCabinet allows
companies to reclaim valuable office space lost to the hard copy storage of
important documents.
-- Easy Search and Retrieval. eCabinet automatically creates a searchable
full-text index of all stored documents and files. Users can then quickly
find and retrieve stored documents through a simple user interface. Documents
can be searched for by document titles,
user-entered notes and keywords, automatically-created content summaries,
capture dates, and source of document -- such as a particular copier, fax or
printer.
-- Remote Office Support. Document distribution for remote offices and
within corporate workgroups is easy. Companies can network multiple eCabinets
together, providing both local and remote file access, document distribution
and data aggregation, and a high level of fault tolerance through document
redundancy.
-- Integrated Toolbar. eCabinet merges the convenience of Microsoft
Internet Explorer and Outlook with an easy-to-use file management system.
Users can search for and retrieve stored email in Outlook, drag and drop
documents directly into an eCabinet folder, personalize documents by assigning
customer/case numbers for ID-based retrieval, and create document summaries
and notes, all from Internet Explorer and Outlook toolbars.
-- Disaster Recovery. If a catastrophic workplace event causes complete
loss of data or the destruction of your eCabinet, eCabinet's disaster recovery
functionality enables companies to recreate documents and the index, so normal
use and operations can quickly be resumed.
-- Slim Form Factor. The eCabinet 2100 measures just 1U (1.75") for
maximum space efficiency, fitting easily into 19" data center racks.

"The eCabinet 2100 combines new Version 2 software features with a 1U
rack-mountable form factor, increased processor speed, and doubled indexing
capacity, making it very attractive to enterprise workgroups while also
assuring low administration costs and ease of use," said James Harris,
Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing for RSV. "From small
businesses with no IT staff to corporate workgroups in companies with multiple
server rooms, any company can easily integrate eCabinet into their existing
network."
"As businesses have deployed systems to create and deliver electronic
documents and information, they have still maintained traditional processes
and tools for collecting and filing of printed materials, specifically the
filing cabinet. Consequently, electronic information and printed documents are
often maintained and managed separately today -- despite the fact that
business processes demand access to both," said Michael Maziarka, Director of
the Dynamic Content Software Strategies Consulting Service for CAP Ventures, a
leading market research firm based in Norwell, Mass. "eCabinet 2100 provides a
cost-effective means for companies to merge their print and electronic worlds,
enabling users to easily capture, file, and retrieve documents and information
regardless of its origins."
