NSM eCabinet Edition NAS Appliances Make Document Archiving Easy & Affordable
NEW YORK, (PC Expo Booth # 4516) June 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Ricoh Silicon
Valley (RSV), NSM Storage, Inc., and OTG Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: OTGS) today
announced availability of a turnkey appliance to intelligently and flexibly
manage, store, and retrieve important papers, faxes, and digital files. The
three companies' combined expertise has enabled them to create an ideal
solution for handling data capture, storage, and retrieval challenges: NAS
Appliance eCabinet Edition by NSM.
According to IDC, the appliance market is projected to grow at an annual
rate of greater than 50%, from slightly over $3B in 2000 to $26B in 2004,
driven by the desire for devices that are simple to operate and easy to
maintain, while providing a high level of functionality.
The key elements of the eCabinet edition NAS Appliance solution include:
-- eCabinet(TM), the first intelligent electronic filing cabinet for
storing, sharing, and finding your office's important papers, faxes,
and digital files. Using TCP/IP, Optical Character Recognition (OCR),
auto-indexing, and browser-based technology, eCabinet securely captures
documents, extracts essential information to create a detailed index,
archives a digital copy (via near-line and offline storage) and allows
for simple end-user retrieval.
-- eCabinet Edition NAS Appliances by NSM provide a complete data storage
solution that is directly connected to the network and that easily
extend network data storage capacity by up to 500GB (depending upon the
media). The NSM2000 eCabinet edition Extender NAS includes two 4.7GB
DVD-RAM drives, and data file storage is on reliable, standardized
4.7 GB DVD-RAM media. The NSM2000 eCabinet edition Archiver NAS
includes two 12x speed CD-R drives, and data file storage is on
reliable, standardized CD-R media. Both appliances have capacity of
105 media.
-- OTG's ArchiveXtender(TM) software automates all aspects of data
management and media handling within the NSM appliances and ensures
seamless integration with RSV's eCabinet.
"Our eCabinet edition Archiver and Extender NAS Appliances allow us to
address the critical aspects of data storage and retrieval in today's
data-intensive business environment," said Kevin Byrne, Vice-President Sales
and Marketing NSM USA. "The Extender Appliance adds half of a Terabyte of data
storage with ideal storage traits -- speed, reliability and capacity. OTG's
ArchiveXtender software provides streamlined, dependable data management."
"The system is fast, flexible, and scalable," said Peter Smails, VP of
Business Development for OTG. "Working together, we have produced a solution
that enables eCabinet to meet customer requirements for secure and long-term
archival storage for their business documents."
"The new NSM products are a natural extension of eCabinet's
already-existing ability to help workers reduce information overload," said
James Harris, Executive VP of Worldwide Sales & Marketing for Ricoh Silicon
Valley. "We want NSM's Jukebox customers to have easy access to networked
document capture and retrieval, and OTG's software makes that happen
seamlessly."
The solution is available now through NSM and RSV resellers. To see a
demonstration of the solution in action, please stop by Ricoh Silicon Valley's
booth # 4516 during New York's PC Expo, June 26th-June 28th, 2001 at the
