X-Win32 Users to Get Fully Integrated SSH Functionality
NEW YORK, PC EXPO, June 26 /PRNewswire/ -- StarNet Communications Corp., a
leading publisher of Windows-to-Linux/Unix connectivity software, announced
that users of its X-Win32 PC X server will be provided a fully integrated data
security solution in cooperation with F-Secure Corporation, a leading
developer of centrally managed enterprise security solutions.
The new agreement between StarNet and F-Secure builds on the successful
development last fall of the industry's first SSH Connect Module for a PC X
server. The Connect Module integrates PC-to-Unix/Linux connectivity with the
automatic encryption of the transmitted data.
F-Secure's market-leading F-Secure SSH for Windows data encryption
technology will now be provided standard with all purchased X-Win32 licenses.
"The strong response from customers to the integrated SSH functionality made
it clear to us that this will be a critical requirement for PC X server
software. Our cooperation with F-Secure, and adding their data encryption
technology to the X-Win32 line adds tremendous value to our customers," said
Steven Schoch, Chief Executive Officer of StarNet.
Chris Vargas, President at F-Secure added that, "Data integrity and the
secure transfer of data have become essential issues. By adding robust
security to the PC X server environment with our market-leading encryption
technology, StarNet customers will be able to enjoy strong encryption of data
transmitted between their Windows clients and X hosts locally over a LAN or
remotely via the Internet.
The integrated data security capability was developed jointly last year by
F-Secure and StarNet. It provides X-Win32 users the convenience of choosing an
SSH connect option when setting up sessions from a Windows computer on a
Unix/Linux server. When running these sessions, X-Win32 automatically starts
the F-Secure SSH client, which in turn encrypts and decrypts the data
transmitted over the network. "The Connect Module provided our customers
unmatched simplicity to achieve data integrity. Now the bundling of these two
products provides unmatched value as well," said Paul Swart, StarNet Vice
President of Sales and Marketing.
