New Version of Pinnacle Systems' Impression DVD Makes Standalone Debut At PC EXPO

Timeline-Based DVD Authoring Software Speeds, Simplifies
                   Professional and Corporate DVD Creation

    NEW YORK - TECHXNY/PC EXPO Booth #3822 - June 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Pinnacle
Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: PCLE), today announced Impression DVD(TM) 2.1; the
enhanced version of its timeline-based professional authoring software for
creating interactive CD and DVD titles. Available for the first time as a
standalone DVD creation product, Pinnacle Systems' Impression DVD is
specifically designed for video editors and graphic artists. Pinnacle Systems
will offer Impression DVD for businesses and professionals, and will produce
a Special Edition (SE) for OEM bundling. Pinnacle Systems will demonstrate
Impression DVD with Windows(TM) 2000 support at the PC Expo DVD Pavilion,
Booth 3822, this week.
Impression DVD incorporates a full suite of professional video authoring
tools optimized with an intuitive drag-and-drop interface and a timeline that
makes video authoring remarkably fast and easy. With the timeline, video
editors can see all of the video assets in the correct order, link any DVD
asset to any menu and add new menus anywhere in the project timeline. All of
the authoring steps are executed through the drag-and-drop interface. Every
asset and title element is icon-based and can be linked to menus with a single
mouse click.
Unique to Impression DVD is a powerful feature that allows users to import
a single file that contains complete, ready-to-use menu designs. Businesses
can optimize the benefits of this capability by having a graphic artist create
sophisticated menus and buttons using familiar tools such as Adobe(TM)
Photoshop(TM) or Corel Draw(TM). The file can then be used as a corporate
template, similar to a Power Point(TM) template.
"Unlike other DVD authoring software, the workflow with Impression DVD is
geared towards the video editor or graphic artist," explained Brian Lane,
Senior Product Manager for the Personal Web Video division at Pinnacle
Systems. "By incorporating a familiar timeline interface and drag-and-drop
features, video editors don't have to learn a whole new workflow. These
features combined with Impression DVD's capability to import menu looks and
layouts in a single file, make it faster and easier than ever before to
produce interactive videos and deliver them in a format that can be viewed on
computers and televisions around the world."
After dragging and dropping audio and video files onto the Impression DVD
timeline, video clips can be trimmed, split, and combined. In addition to
including support for multi-camera angles, and motion video menus, the
software enables up to 99 titles per DVD with up to 99 chapters in each title.
Users also have the flexibility to "Scrub" the timeline and place chapter
marks where needed. Chapter points and videos can be linked to buttons on the
menus simply by dragging and dropping them from the timeline right onto the
menu.

    Pricing and Availability
Impression DVD 2.1 is expected to ship in a few weeks and will be
available worldwide through select resellers at $995. Customers who own
Impression CD-Pro or Impression SE can upgrade to the new Impression DVD for
$795.
