GENICOM Announces New High Performance Serial Matrix Printer

NEW YORK, June 26 /PRNewswire/ -- GENICOM announced a new high performance
wide-carriage serial matrix printer. The model 3811 printer performs at print
speeds up to 1100 CPS and is designed for the general data processing market.
This new model is an extension of GENICOM's well-known 3800 serial printer
family. The GENICOM 3811 will be available for delivery in late July 2002
with a list price starting at $3,225.
New features of the 3811 include, dual front paper path for easy paper
loading access, user installable I/O cards (including 10/100BaseT Ethernet),
and improved performance. The simplicity of design incorporates advanced
print head technology, with a head life of two (2) times that of other
products. The advanced paper handling and resident barcode fonts make it the
ideal choice for multiple-part form printing on both the manufacturing floor
and in warehouse applications. Other markets include healthcare, retail, and
transportation with mid to high-end application printing needs. Additionally,
the 18-pin model 3811 ships with five (5) resident emulations and graphics
resolution that will fulfill many applications where low-speed, higher-cost
line printers are now being used.
"GENICOM remains committed to continue to provide new and enhanced
products to the large install base of impact printer users," said Steve Mosek,
Vice President, Marketing. GENICOM's current set of impact products range from
low-end 360 cps serial matrix printers to 1800 lpm line matrix units.
