TEWKSBURY, Mass., June 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon's Integrated Defense
Systems (IDS) has achieved Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI(R))
Level 3 certification for systems and software engineering from the Software
Engineering Institute. CMMI Level 3 certification demonstrates that IDS
incorporates the best business practices, ensuring predictability and improved
quality in performance. CMMI is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Defense
(DoD) and the National Defense Industrial Association and is viewed by the DoD
as the standard set of best practices for mature organizations. IDS is the
first Raytheon business to achieve Level 3 certification, which includes the
Tewksbury, Bedford, Sudbury, Andover and Huntsville sites.
"The appraisal recognized the high level of process maturity throughout
our organization," said Ed Franklin, president, Raytheon Integrated Defense
Systems. "CMMI compliance confirms that Raytheon is committed to employing
the best processes, techniques, methodologies, and tools that allow us to
remain competitive, support our business objectives, and deliver the highest
quality products and services to our Customers." Key to the achievement was
the use of Raytheon's Integrated Product Development System and Raytheon Six
Sigma.
