Healthcare Practitioners Now Have Access to Handheld Relational Database
Applications Designed by Doctors and Nurses Specifically for Use in The
Medical Field
LAKE WORTH, Fla., June 27 /PRNewswire/ -- PC Expo -- DDH Software, maker
of the highly acclaimed HanDBase relational database for Palm Powered(TM)
handheld computers, has launched a program to offer HanDBase solutions that
have been created by and for medical professionals. The company has teamed
with several healthcare industry professionals who have developed various
HanDBase applications for their own use and have expressed an interest in
making these tools widely available to medical professionals around the world.
DDH Software has taken several HanDBase databases created by medical
professionals and transformed them into standalone applications. The company
has put its resources into designing, building and testing handheld medical
applications that met the rigid standards of each of the healthcare
professionals that created the initial applications.
"While many of the healthcare applications that are marketed today were
developed by programmers with little or no experience in the healthcare
industry, these databases were actually created by medical professionals,
including several doctors," said David Haupert, DDH Software's president and
CEO. "These professionals were able to develop their applications from a
hands-on perspective that no full-time computer programmer could hope to
match. Offering these solutions built upon the powerful HanDBase platform will
enable DDH Software to provide a host of very practical and useful handheld
computing tools for the healthcare industry."
A few of the medical applications that will initially be available through
DDH Software's Medical Palm Applications program include:
-- HandEchart provides the convenience of having access to important
patient notes at all times. HandEchart includes eight total databases
intuitively linked together to make gathering clinical patient data a
simple process.
-- OB-On Call gives OB-GYN physicians access to vital patient records so
they will not be caught off guard by off-hours calls from patients
needing rapid access to their histories.
-- Wound Care Manager is an electronic database solution for patient
assessment and data management of wounds and skin care.
-- Patient HandChart is an electronic medical record for patient data
management and assessment. Although this application can be utilized
for any type of patient management system, the program provides all the
necessary tools a Senior Care Practitioner requires to manage geriatric
patients.
-- Pocket Psychiatry provides psychiatrists or other mental health
professionals with a tool to maintain accurate, detailed, and up-
to-date patient records that can be searched, filtered or sorted by
any of a number of useful criteria. Users can create and manage
listings of PCP's, insurers, and pharmacies used by patients.
The prices for HanDBase medical applications currently range from $12.95
to $495.99 and can all be downloaded from DDH's Medical Palm Applications Web
site at ddhsoftware.com/medical.html .
