IRVING, Texas, June 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Commercial Metals Company
(NYSE: CMC), headquartered in Irving, Texas, announced today the opening of
its newest scrap processing facility in Birmingham, Alabama. The new
facility, known as CMC Birmingham, will primarily provide processed scrap to
SMI Steel-Alabama, CMC's steel minimill also located in Birmingham.
Additionally, CMC Birmingham will engage in all other facets of industrial and
peddler scrap purchasing. The newly opened facility will immediately
establish CMC as a leading scrap processor in the Birmingham full-service
scrap market. CMC Birmingham will operate as part of CMC's Domestic Mills
segment.
