A Multiservice Core Data Switch
LEXINGTON, Mass., June 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Rational Software
(Nasdaq: RATL), the e-development company(TM), today announced that Equipe
Communications Corporation standardized on Rational ClearCase(R) to help
develop its key offering, the Equipe 3200(TM), a multi-service core data
switch that transitions carriers from ATM to MPLS/IP while leveraging emerging
optical technologies. Using Rational tools and the best-practices process in
Unified Change Management (UCM), Equipe saved months of development time.
With Rational, Equipe is developing software months faster than if it were
managing development manually. Equipe is using Rational ClearCase, the
market-leading software configuration management (SCM) system, through the
process in UCM. UCM is Rational's "best practices" process for managing change
from requirements to release. With UCM, Equipe has cut integration time down
from weeks to days. UCM also allows Equipe to quickly understand feedback
from their Quality Assurance team to determine which components need
attention, reducing the time it takes to process feedback from days to hours.
Equipe is also leveraging the integration of Rational tools by employing
Rational ClearQuest(R) and Rational Rose(R) to maximize the development of the
highest quality software. Rational ClearQuest, Rational's highly flexible
defect and change tracking system, communicates development issues and project
status throughout the Equipe team, and Rational Rose, the world's leading
visual modeling tool, is used to model Equipe's applications and databases,
maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of their application, and
promote better understanding of the project by mapping their code objects to
the underlying database tables.
