SDK Allows Solution Resellers and In-House Developers to Create Specialized
eCabinet Software Applications for Easy Integration and Expanded Functionality
NEW YORK, (PC Expo Booth # 4516) June 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Ricoh Silicon
Valley, Inc. (RSV) today announced the availability of an eCabinet Software
Developer's Kit (SDK). The SDK provides application programming interfaces for
seamless integration of eCabinet and existing document management, database,
or server environments. As an easy-to-use gateway for databases and servers
like Lotus Notes(R), Microsoft Exchange(R), Oracle(R), and other ERP, CRM and
legacy systems, the SDK enables creation of custom applications for searching
and routing documents regardless of content and file type.
With the eCabinet SDK, software developers and solution resellers can:
-- Meet customers' needs for secure, reliable document storage and
retrieval within existing applications, without the need for additional
user training and without having to switch applications.
-- Increase workflow productivity and efficiency. By programming
automatic routing based on content into specific eCabinet folders, SDK
developers can reduce the steps it takes to digitally file documents.
-- Automatically store and route form data to an eCabinet, and automate
keyword entry or embed manual keyword coding into existing
applications.
-- Augment existing structured database with heterogeneous/unstructured
data and reduce database overhead by storing documents on eCabinet and
pointing to them instead of storing them in databases.
The SDK is intended for software developers who write applications that
connect to and use information on eCabinet. The SDK includes API (Application
Programming Interfaces) for applications written in the following languages:
-- C++. The SDK libraries consist of C++ classes that use various data
types (for example, string, vector, and map that are defined in the
Visual Studio Standard Template Library (STL)).
-- C. The SDK provides C-Language function wrappers around the C++
classes for applications written using C.
-- Visual Basic. The SDK provides a package of COM object equivalents to
the C++ classes and methods that you can access using Visual Basic.
This allows you to write macros and utilities for applications that
support VBA.
"The eCabinet SDK allows our partners to extend the functionality of
eCabinet to meet the needs of customers within unique environments," said
James Harris, Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing for RSV. "We
know that developers want to tailor eCabinet functionality for specific

that."
"We're excited to be part of the RSV Software Developer's Program," said
David Rak, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Notable Solutions Inc.
(NSi(R)), one of Ricoh Silicon Valley's premier developer partners. "The SDK
allows us to seamlessly interface products like Hewlett-Packard's Digital
Senders with eCabinet to provide a complete document file management solutions
to customers."
"RSV's Software Developer's Kit allows NSi to help us create unique
solutions for both existing and new eCabinet/Digital Sender customers," said
Cathy Mattson, Worldwide Business Development Manager for HP's Digital
Senders. "Digital Senders enable customers to capture paper documents that
can be indexed, routed and stored on eCabinet. This takes our partnership
with RSV to a new level, while better meeting customers' needs within their
existing environments."
MSRP for the SDK is $750.00, which includes 3 months technical support,
