CHERRY HILL, N.J., June 28 /PRNewswire/ -- New Jersey American Water is
pleased to announce that it will be assisting Winslow Township in Camden
County to supplement its water supply. On June 27, the Winslow Township
Council unanimously approved a resolution to enter a bulk water sales
contract with New Jersey American Water for 1.5 million gallons a day.
Water from New Jersey American Water's Delaware River Regional Water
Treatment Plant and Regional Transmission system will supplement Winslow
Township's public wells. The water needed for Winslow will come from the
Delaware River plant in Delran, Burlington County, and will also require
the installation of approximately 5 miles of new water main and a pumping
station that would extend into Winslow from New Jersey American Water's
existing system in Voorhees, NJ.
"This is the reason why the Delaware River Regional Water Treatment
Plant and Regional Transmission system were built, to provide a reliable,
regional alternate water source for South Jersey. Many communities in this
area are facing the same types of water quality and capacity challenges as
Winslow Township and as the largest water purveyor in New Jersey, we are
proud to be able to offer regional solutions to address local needs," said
Walter Lynch, President New Jersey American Water.
Construction of the new main is expected to be complete in the late
spring of 2007.
