TAMPA, Fla., June 29 /PRNewswire/ -- BellSouth is adding to their
Florida footprint by bringing The Real Yellow Pages and YELLOWPAGES.COM to
the Tampa and St. Petersburg/Clearwater areas, and they are bringing in new
jobs to the area market. The Real Yellow Pages is the leading print
directory in Florida and the Southeast U.S.
With the new markets, BellSouth is following successful launches of the
The Real Yellow Pages in the Tallahassee and Fort Walton-Destin markets.
Tampa, St. Petersburg, Clearwater, Tallahassee and Fort Walton-Destin are
not covered by BellSouth telecommunications service, but are key markets
for the company's directory division.
The company opened its area office today in a ceremony in Tampa. Cindy
Miller with the City of Tampa and Kim Scheeler with the Tampa Chamber of
Commerce welcomed BellSouth. The Real Yellow Pages also gave a gift to the
Warrick Dunn Foundation as part of the festivities.
"This is an exciting time for all of us at BellSouth, as we enter the
Tampa, St. Petersburg and Clearwater markets. Our portfolio of print and
Internet Yellow Pages products gives advertisers superior opportunities to
maximize their reach to local buyers. The distribution of our directories
will give advertisers a broad reach in the market, and with
YELLOWPAGES.COM, advertisers will also have the advantage of an Internet
site with the name and traffic to bring even more buyers to their phones
and storefronts," said Bill Walsh, regional vice president for BellSouth
Advertising & Publishing.
Walsh pointed out that BellSouth's entry into the local market will
mean new jobs for the area. More than 100 new sales, marketing and support
personnel are to be added, with additional employees possible in the months
and years to come.
"We not only pride ourselves on the best, most highly-valued directory
in our markets, but we also take pride in the number of jobs and careers we
bring to our markets. Our sales and support staff are the best in the
business, and we look forward to that continuing here in the Tampa, St.
Petersburg/Clearwater areas," Walsh said.
The first Tampa directory, which will be distributed throughout
Hillsborough County, will begin delivery in March of 2007, with an
estimated 1.4 million copies. The distribution will make The Real Yellow
Pages the largest in the Tampa market*. In addition to the print
directories, businesses will benefit from the YELLOWPAGES.COM nationwide
Network with 30.9 million unique monthly visitors in May 2006.
"Tampa continues to see tremendous business and residential growth. Our
research uncovered the need for a more complete print and Internet
directory solutions in the market, and BellSouth is proud to fill this need
by bringing The Real Yellow Pages and YELLOWPAGES.COM to the Tampa
community," said Walsh.
The St. Petersburg/Clearwater directory will begin selling to
businesses in late 2006 or early 2007 with delivery scheduled for September
2007. An estimated 1.3 million editions of The Real Yellow Pages print and
electronic directories are scheduled for delivery in Pinellas County.
Directories are also planned for Pasco and Polk Counties in 2007.
