Thousands of Lines of UTStarcom's AN-2000 Broadband Multi-Service Access
Network to Support Voice, Data, and ADSL Services

UTStarcom, Inc. (Nasdaq: UTSI), a leading global provider of wireless and
wireline access and IP switching solutions, today announced that it has signed
its first contract in Europe with the Cyprus Telecommunications Authority
(CYTA).

UTStarcom will supply its AN-2000 Broadband Multi-Service Access Network
(MSAN) in support of CYTA's nationwide rollout of a "Fiber-to-the-Cabinet"
(FTTCab) network of voice, data, and ADSL services for enterprise and
residential subscribers throughout Cyprus.
