Powell Goldstein Ranked 7th In The Nation In Percentage Of Female Partners And #1 In Atlanta In Diversity

    ATLANTA, July 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Powell, Goldstein, Frazer & Murphy LLP
announced today that it was ranked 7th in the nation by American Lawyer of law
firms with the highest percentage of female partners.  The Firm currently has
32 women partners, 25% of the total number of partners in the Firm.  The
national average for percentages of women partners in large law firms is only
16%.  The Firm also received high rankings for the overall percentage of
lawyers who are female -- 40%.  In addition, according to the Minority Law
Journal Diversity Scorecard, the Firm ranked #1 of Atlanta-based law firms in
minority group representation.  Powell Goldstein ranked 35th of 200 firms
nationally.

values.  We have placed a strong emphasis on recruiting and retaining female
lawyers as well as those of different ethnic and racial backgrounds and we are
pleased with our progress to date," reported Aasia Mustakeem, Chair of the
Firm's Diversity Committee and an African-American, female partner.
    Powell Goldstein has a long history in diversity.  In 1974, Frank Hull
joined the Firm and later became the Firm's first female partner.  She later
went on to serve in a number of judicial positions and currently serves on the
U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.  Karen Wildau became the
Firm's second female partner in 1982, and she is currently a member of the
Board of Partners and a senior litigation partner.
    Ms. Wildau added, "52% of our associates are female and our summer
