Fort James Bowling Green Plant Reaches Safety Milestone

            Dixie Facility Works 365 Days Without Lost-Time Injury

    DEERFIELD, Ill., July 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Fort James Corporation's
(NYSE: FJ) manufacturing facility in Bowling Green, Kentucky, has achieved a
significant achievement in the area of employee safety:  the plant has
operated for one full year without recording a single lost-time injury.

    The facility, which employs 164 people and manufactures Dixie(TM) paper
plates, reached that milestone on the morning of June 22.
    "We focus on safety and make it a priority here," explained Plant Manager
Jeff Proctor.  "Safety is as important as anything else we do."
    Proctor also explained that all personnel receive comprehensive safety
training, and that the plant conducts comprehensive monthly safety meetings.
    "Most important is our people," Proctor said.  "They are committed to
safety and are willing to do whatever it takes to ensure that the plant
operates safely."

paper towels, napkins, paper cups, paper plates, cutlery and food wrap
