Siemens VDO Automotive Appoints Rahbar to Lead Electric Motor Drives Division

    AUBURN HILLS, Mich., July 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Siemens VDO
Automotive today announced Mehran Rahbar will lead the company's Electric
Motor Drives division, based in Wurzburg, Germany.  He succeeds Dominic Desi
who is retiring from this position.
    Rahbar now is responsible for the division's global business operations,
including the expansion of operations into new and existing markets and its
five manufacturing facilities.
    Since 2000, Rahbar has been responsible for the company's Powertrain Fuel
Components Division, located in Newport News, Va.  In this role, he directed
global design, production and marketing of fuel injectors and related fuel
systems hardware for the worldwide automotive market.
    From 1999 until 2000, Rahbar was General Manager of Siemens VDO
Automotive's Engine Cooling group within the Electric Motor Drives division, a
position in which he led the global business strategy and development of the
Engine Cooling operations, based in London, Ontario, Canada.
    Rahbar earned a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Civil and Environmental
Engineering and Mechanical and Industrial Engineering from Clarkson University
in New York.  He is a member of the American Society for Quality Engineers.
