CIGNA to Offer Online Precertification this Fall

    BLOOMFIELD, Conn., and CAMBRIDGE, Mass., July 3 /PRNewswire/ -- CIGNA
HealthCare announced today that it will begin providing online
precertification this fall to more than 365,000 physicians in its national
network. The new service will be powered by NaviNet(R), one of the nation's
leading provider-communications portals, from NaviMedix, Inc. This new
capability will make it faster and easier for providers across the country
to submit and check the status of precertification requests for most
inpatient services, certain outpatient services, and injectable
medications. Precertification is the online service most requested by CIGNA
network providers. Information about eligibility, benefits and claims
status for CIGNA HealthCare members is already available at no charge to
providers online, through the CIGNA for HealthCare Professionals website
and NaviNet.
    "Online precertification will not only be convenient through this
valuable tool, but will ease the administrative burden so physicians can

    Physicians may access the NaviNet-powered precertification services in
one of two ways -- either through the CIGNA for HealthCare Professionals
website at http://www.cignaforhcp.com or through the NaviNet for CIGNA
HealthCare website at https://navinet.navimedix.com. NaviNet is an
easy-to-use, multi- payer website that gives confidential and protected
access to member, plan and patient care information for members covered
under a variety of health plans.
