Network (WWN), has been chosen to receive the Alley Award at the New York City
Venture Capital Conference & Exposition, which will be held July 17 - 19,
2000, at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square.
"Each year on behalf of the City, EDC bestows the Alley Award upon a
leader in our business community who has made a significant contribution to
the growth of Silicon Alley," said Michael G. Carey, president of EDC, which
hosts the conference on behalf of the City. "Kay Koplovitz has shown
tremendous entrepreneurial spirit in both old and new media, and we are
pleased to honor her this year."
Koplovitz plans to launch workingwoman.com this summer, creating a global
marketplace for professional and entrepreneurial women. The founder of USA

"New York City is a critical center for both venture capital and
e-commerce, two of the most important ingredients for success at the business
table," said Koplovitz. "My personal goal is to strengthen the capital
specifically directed at women, but New York City's contributions to both men
and women seeking to build businesses have served to bolster the overall
economy. I'm thrilled to be recognized for my leadership in this area."
Past recipients of the Alley Award include barnesandnoble.com CEO Jonathan
Bulkeley, Wit Capital chairman Robert Lessin, NASDAQ chairman & CEO Frank Zarb
and Time Warner, Inc. president Richard Parsons.

comprehensive conference highlights 25 of New York City's hottest
