Extensive Telecommunications Experience Will Help Guide
Company's Western U.S. Expansion
STOCKTON, Calif., July 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Pac-West Telecomm, Inc.
(Nasdaq: PACW), a rapidly growing provider of integrated communications
services to Internet service providers and business customers in the western
U.S., announced today the appointment of Gary Ames to its board of directors.
Mr. Ames served as president and chief executive officer of MediaOne
International until the recent completion of MediaOne's merger with AT&T. He
was responsible for developing and managing MediaOne Group's (NYSE: UMG)
international interests in broadband and wireless communications. He also
served as chairman of Telewest, the UK's largest residential broadband company
serving one million cable TV subscribers and more than one and a half million
phone lines. Ames currently serves on the corporate boards of Albertsons,
Tektronix, etrieve, imandi.com, and the Safeguard Scientifics Infrastructure
Advisory Board.

Before joining MediaOne International in July 1995, Ames spent seven years
as president and chief executive officer of U S WEST Communications, which
encompasses residential and business telephone services, and operator and
carrier services in 14 western and Midwestern states. He also held numerous
financial positions at Pacific Northwest Bell and AT&T before being named vice
president and treasurer at U S WEST, Inc. in 1983.
A native of Oregon, Ames is a graduate of Portland State University and
attended the University of Vienna.
