Fourth Annual Original Voices Award Winners Announced
ANN ARBOR, Mich., July 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Borders Books and Music today
announced the winners of its fourth annual Original Voices Awards, established
to highlight innovative and ambitious books from new and emerging talents, as
well as outstanding works from established authors. Winners were chosen in
the categories of fiction and nonfiction, with a special honorary award in
children's picture books. Borders highlights authors year-round through its
Original Voices program, often bringing little-known writers to the attention
of the public for the first time. Each month Borders stores nationwide offer
a discount on books by authors in the program.
The 2000 award winners are:

Booksellers from Borders stores across the country, as well as Borders
home office employees, select nominees in fiction and nonfiction from the more
than 200 titles featured in the previous year's Original Voices program. Two
committees of judges from Borders' home office read and vote on each book.
Each winner will receive $5,000 from Borders Books and Music.
