today announced that it has released its VP6 NSV Plugin 1.0 software.
The VP6 NSV Plugin enables video content in Nullsoft Streaming Video (NSV)
format to be encoded with On2's revolutionary TrueMotion VP6 compression
technology.
The Plugin enables users to create VP6-encoded NSV content that can be
played back in Nullsoft's popular Winamp media player. The VP6 decoder is
included in every copy of Winamp 5.
Nullsoft developed NSV as the video format for their free SHOUTcast
streaming media server. In Winamp 5, Nullsoft introduced its Winamp Internet
TV service, which allows any user to become a worldwide broadcaster simply by
setting up a SHOUTcast server on his or her PC. There are currently hundreds
of channels on Winamp Internet TV. The service currently supports the current
family of TrueMotion codecs. The On2 VP6 Plugin will enable users to greatly
increase their video quality at lower data rates.
