DERBY, N.Y., July 7 /PRNewswire/ -- New Era Cap Co., Inc., the exclusive
manufacturer and marketer of the Major League Baseball official uniform cap,
part of the MLB Authentic Collection, announced its plans for the 75th Major
League Baseball All-Star Game Week, July 9-13, in Houston, TX. For the 5th
year, New Era will outfit the National and American League All-Star teams with
the official Authentic Collection game cap; each featuring the player's club
logo, the silhouetted batter and official side-patch logo of the 2004 All-Star
game; in addition to participating in FanFest at the George R. Brown
Convention Center. The 2004 All-Star Week caps will be worn by every Major
League Baseball All-Star during each on field appearance including the
All-Star Futures Game, Gatorade All-Star Workout Day, the Century 21 Home Run
Derby and the 75th Major League Baseball All-Star Game.
New Era's presence will be prominent in Houston during All-Star weekend.
The company will host a 40'x40' Interactive booth during John Hancock All-Star
FanFest in the Making of the Game area of Baseball City, located in the George
R. Brown Convention Center. Consistent with the company's year-long, 50th
Anniversary celebration of the 59FIFTY, the style of cap worn on the field of
play by all MLB and Minor League players, New Era will have on display a
custom made and branded Bourget Chopper. New Era has also teamed up with
Upper Deck Trading Card Co to giveaway trading cards featuring New Era's AC,
home and road, caps for all 30 teams, and fundamental training tips for
aspiring baseball players: presented in packs of three, 288 recipients will
instantly win a 2003 World Series Champion Florida Marlins AC cap.
In addition to John Hancock All-Star FanFest activities, New Era has
partnered with Majestic in a 16 truck mobile billboard campaign. The mobile
billboards feature the exclusive 2004 All-Star Week caps by New Era and
jerseys by Majestic. New Era branding will also be visible in in-stadium well
signage during the Century 21 Home Run Derby and the All-Star Game.
New Era will also have a strong retail presence during the 2004 All-Star
Week with the New Era Road Vehicle (NERV) which will be presented in
conjunction with The Shed and Aramark in Houston. The NERV, a 35-foot New Era
branded mobile merchandising unit, offers fans a large selection of New Era
2004 All-Star commemorative headwear, MLB Authentic Collection caps, as well
as caps for other Major League Baseball teams. New Era has recently increased
its branding presence at the Shed's stadium location.
New Era has spent the better part of 2004 celebrating the 50th anniversary
of the company's signature cap, the 59FIFTY with its marketing and product
development campaign: 59FIFTYat50. The highlight of the campaign has been the
"Capture the Flag" series of custom 59FIFTYs by guest celebrity designers,
which as Houston Astros' fans will remember their very own Roger Clemens was
the third celebrity designer of the series. Other celebrities in line to
design caps include MTV VJ La La, DJ Green Lantern, Marc Ecko, Kyle Turley,
George Gervin, Dizzee Rascal, Trevor Andrew and Marc Frank Montoya.
