WHITE SANDS MISSILE RANGE, N.M., July 7, 2008 /PRNewswire/ -- NetFires
LLC, a joint venture between Raytheon Company's (NYSE: RTN) Missile Systems
business and Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) Missiles and Fire Control,
successfully launched another Non Line-of-Sight-Launch System Precision
Attack Missile July 1.
"The success of this CTV-3 flight test confirms that NLOS-LS can
reliably move forward to multi-mode seeker flights," said Col. Doug Dever,
U.S. Army's NLOS-LS project manager. "This advanced weapon system gives the
commander a single system solution to counter the moving target and
asymmetric swarm attack threat while minimizing collateral damage."
The flight test proved the missile's stability in cruise and guidance
modes and its ability to operate as a node on the net using its onboard
radio.
"This test marks the first time an Army missile with an onboard radio
joined the net and transmitted both missile status while in flight and a
preloaded simulated target image just prior to impact," said Scott Speet,
executive vice president of NetFires LLC and Raytheon's NLOS-LS program
director.
