WASHINGTON, July 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- EFJ, Inc. (Nasdaq: EFJI)
announced today that its EFJohnson subsidiary has received an order for $1.25
million from the Fairbanks North Star Borough, Emergency Operations
Department. The order calls for EFJohnson to provide the department with its
Project 25 compliant portable and mobile radios for use throughout the
borough.
"We are pleased to provide the borough with our Project 25 solutions,"
said Michael E. Jalbert, chairman and chief executive officer of EFJ, Inc.
The primary use for the radios, according to Jalbert, is with fire fighters
and public safety personnel in the greater Fairbanks area.
The borough purchased these radios under the Western States Contracting
Alliance (WSCA) contract vehicle, and this is the company's largest order to
date under WSCA. EFJohnson was named as a supplier of public safety
communications equipment by WSCA in November 2003. The WSCA contract vehicle
has an initial term of three years with optional extensions not to exceed ten
years total and has a possible total value of $500 million to all suppliers.
EFJohnson is one of three named land mobile radio suppliers on the contract
vehicle, which initially covers 15 member states with provisions for the WSCA
Directors to approve expansion to include other states.
