Hello Direct Launches More Flexible and Customer Friendly B2B Web Site Using ATG Dynamo Product Suite

Brings Web Development and Management In-House

SAN JOSE, Calif., July 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Hello Direct, Inc.
(Nasdaq: HELO), the leading developer and business-to-business direct marketer
of desktop telephony and equipment interface products, announced today that it
has launched a newly designed Web site, based on software from Art Technology
Group ("ATG") (Nasdaq: ARTG). The new Dynamo-based Web site makes it even
easier for customers to find the products they need, obtain information on a
wide range of products, and to purchase products over the Web.
Thousands of small and medium-sized businesses tap into the Hello Direct
site every day for telephony information, advice, and the purchase of telecom
products and services.
"The Web site improvements immediately visible to customers are only a
first step towards more powerful enhancements," said Michael Young, vice
president, CIO and chief e-business officer of Hello Direct. "Our focus to
date has been in replicating the capabilities of the previously outsourced
site. Now we've accomplished that goal and using ATG Dynamo are ready to move
on to enhanced personalization, better integration with our affiliates and
partners, cross-sell and up-sell capabilities, and customized support of Hello
Direct corporate accounts."
The new site design delivers a more contemporary look and feel, more
helpful product description screens, a more powerful search capability, and a
streamlined ordering process. Behind the scenes, the use of templates for
hundreds of product description screens will make updating the Web site much
faster and easier, delivering even more up-to-the-minute products, information
and special offers to Hello Direct's Web site customers. New administrative
and reporting tools will allow Hello Direct to continuously optimize the site
for customer satisfaction and sales. Hello Direct will also be able to evolve
the design and capabilities of the site much more easily.
The new Web site is built upon Art Technology Group's Dynamo(R) Product
Suite for customer relationship management and electronic commerce. "We
selected Dynamo because it was easy to integrate with our legacy back-end
systems, and we were confident that we could rapidly and efficiently integrate
it with other new software to be added later," said Michael Laster, Director
of Information Systems for Hello Direct. "With Dynamo we believe we have
'future-proofed' the Hello Direct Web site."
"Hello Direct is a leader in business-to-business commerce on the Internet
and we are pleased the company selected ATG as the platform to accelerate
their marketing, sales, and customer relationship management on the Web," said
Ian Reid, vice president of marketing, Art Technology Group.
The new Web site was developed internally by Hello Direct and will be
managed entirely by Hello Direct itself. Previously, the company had
outsourced its Web site development and operations. The new site is a major
milestone in a Hello Direct initiative to Web-enable the entire company. The
initiative will include further enhancements to Web order processing and Web
interfaces for all representatives in the company's inbound, outbound, and
customer service call centers.
"By bringing our Web site development and management in-house, we have
more complete control of our site, with fewer compromises," adds Young. "We
can update and add capabilities to the site more quickly and efficiently, and
provide a site that is more tailored to Hello Direct customer needs."
