LOS ANGELES, July 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Long Beach, California-based SER/Jobs
for Progress, an organization dedicated to providing opportunities for youth,
today awarded its Community Spirit Award to Albertson's, Inc. (NYSE: ABS),
commending the Company for its support of programs that help give youth the
tools they need to realize their dreams.

confidence, and self-esteem they need to secure their future," said Rick
Sanchez, executive director of SER/Jobs for Progress.
Los Angeles County Supervisor Don Knabe presented a proclamation from the
Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors commending Albertson's for supporting
educational and economic development programs and making an investment in the
future.

Spirit Award," said Dave Simonson, president of Albertson's Southern
California Division. "Albertson's is committed to supporting the efforts of
organizations like SER/Jobs for Progress that make tremendous contributions to
the well-being of our youth and community at large."
More than sixty years ago, Albertson's founder Joe Albertson established a
legacy of giving that remains at the core of the Company's business
philosophy. In addition to supporting organizations like SER/Jobs for
Progress, in 2000, Albertson's donated more than 22-million pounds of food and
household goods to food banks and hunger-relief charities nationwide.
