IABC/Detroit's 22nd Annual Renaissance Awards Honors Communications Excellence in the Digital Drive

    DETROIT, July 10 /PRNewswire/ -- One of the largest chapters of the
International Association of Business Communicators, IABC/Detroit, recently
honored six "Best of Show" winners at its 22nd annual Renaissance Awards at
the Michigan State University Management Education Center in Troy.  They were
among more than 100 awards presented to communication professionals for
excellence in communication management; writing; art/design; print
communication; events, direct mail and advertising; and electronic and/or
interactive communication.
    "Fostering better communication with stakeholders makes business more
effective, especially vital in today's tight economy," said Cindy Orlandi,
APR.  The 2003-2004 president of IABC/Detroit added, "Atlanta, Charlotte,
Chicago, New York and Phoenix are among the U.S. IABC chapters judging our
Renaissance Awards and that have recognized the roar of the top talent that we
have here in the Digital Drive.  One of our winners, for example, Wayne State
University recently redesigned its Web site to better show how it's possible
here in Michigan to have a 'World-Class Education in the Real World(TM).'"
    IABC/Detroit's six disciplines and "Best of Show" winners were:

    Entries were evaluated in a two-tier judging process.  During the first
tier, communications professionals from eight IABC chapters across the nation
judged entries and selected the Award of Excellence, Award of Merit and Award
of Honor winners.  A second-tier judging panel comprised of local
communications executives then chose one "Best of Show" winner for each
discipline.  The "Best of Show" judges included Renee Ahee, APR, Ahee
Communications; Rita Conrad, Flint Ink Corp.; R. Sue Dodea, Junior
Achievement, SE Michigan; Gary Grates, General Motors; Marc Hass, Hass MS&L;
Margaret Johnson, Visteon Corp.; Georgella Muirhead, Berg Muirhead & Assoc.;
Dominic Pangborn, Pangborn Design; and Mary Zatina, Office of Dan Mulhern.
