Macomb County Joins Automation Alley as Foundation Member

PONTIAC, Mich., July 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Automation Alley officials
announced today that Macomb County government has joined Automation Alley,
Michigan's premier high-tech consortium.
"The plan, since its inception by Oakland County Executive L. Brooks
Patterson, has been to grow the organization into a regional presence," said
Automation Alley Executive Director Ken Rogers. "With Macomb County as a
partner, and 22% of our membership outside of Oakland County, Brooks' vision
has been realized."
The Macomb County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously today to
approve the measure to become a Foundation Member. This special category
places the latest member at the core of the Automation Alley initiative. By
maintaining Foundation status, company executives become integral members of
the Consortium's Executive Board and play a pivotal role in determining the
future of the region's technological community. Foundation Membership dues
are $15,000 annually.
Today's vote was the result of two previous exploratory meetings with
representatives from Macomb County, including meetings with their planning and
economic development office and Automation Alley. Nancy White, chair of the
board of Macomb County's Board of Commissioners, spearheaded the motion.
Automation Alley, a consortium of high-tech businesses and organizations
in Southeast Michigan, is widely recognized as one of the most dynamic and
affluent technology regions in the United States. Conceived in 1998, the
Automation Alley consortium helps member companies gain competitive advantages
in productivity, innovation and growth. This consortium is the first
public/private partnership driven to develop Automation Alley as one of the
country's premier technology corridors. http://www.automationalley.com
