Semiconductor Industry Champions Lend Strategic Guidance as Company
Accelerates Commercialization of Inverse Lithography Technology
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., July 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Luminescent
Technologies, Inc., a provider of lithography enhancement products to the
semiconductor industry, today named industry visionaries, Dr. Dan Maydan
and Dr. Joel Monnier to its board of advisors. Maydan joins the board
following an illustrious career at Applied Materials, while Monnier brings
a wealth of semiconductor manufacturing experience from his successful
tenure at STMicroelectronics. Both executives bring considerable strategic
and technical strength to Luminescent at a time of increasing adoption of
the company's breakthrough Inverse Lithography Technology (ILT) by leading
semiconductor manufacturers.
Dr. Maydan is a renowned technological pioneer and a champion of the
semiconductor equipment industry. He spent more than 25 years at Applied
Materials, before retiring as its president in 2003 and a member of its
board of directors in 2006. Throughout his career, he has been recognized
worldwide with numerous awards and honors for his contributions to the
global semiconductor industry. Elected to the United States National
Academy of Engineering in 1998, Dr. Maydan also serves on the board of
directors for LaserCard Corp. and Electronics for Imaging, Inc.
Dr. Monnier is a distinguished and accomplished semiconductor industry
leader. Until his retirement in early 2006, Monnier served as corporate
vice president and director of central research and development (R&D) at
STMicroelectronics. He is credited as the driving force behind ST's
groundbreaking Crolles 2 Alliance with Philips, Motorola and Taiwan
Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp. (TSMC). He is also the architect of the
Mask Center established jointly by ST with Dai Nippon Printing in Agrate,
Italy.

About ILT
In contrast to conventional RET software, Luminescent's ILT methodology
starts with the desired on-wafer result and reduces the photolithography
process to a series of mathematical equations. By solving the equations,
the on-wafer result is inverted to determine the optimal mask patterns
needed to produce the desired outcome. Since ILT analyzes the entire image
and not just the design edges, it generates an optimized mask design in a
single pass that is pre-verified and correct by construction. By its
nature, inversion is pattern-independent and can be applied off-the-shelf
to any design, thereby eliminating the need for extensive scriptwriting
that burdens existing RET software.
