FPL Energy Appoints Michael O'Sullivan Senior Vice President of Development

    JUNO BEACH, Fla., July 11 /PRNewswire/ -- FPL Energy, LLC today announced
it has appointed Michael O'Sullivan senior vice president of development for
the independent power producer, a subsidiary of FPL Group, Inc. (NYSE: FPL).

has a proven track record of developing and acquiring independent power
projects and significantly contributing to the success of the companies for
which he has worked."
    Mr. O'Sullivan previously served as a vice president of AES Great Plains,
Inc., the mid-western division of The AES Corporation, a leading IPP company.
Prior to joining AES in 1999, O'Sullivan was a vice president of NRG North
America, a unit of NRG Energy, Inc., now an affiliate of Xcel Corporation.  He
was responsible for business development, project finance and asset
management.  He also has held a variety of project development, management and
engineering positions with Indeck Energy Services and Commonwealth Edison
Company.
    Mr. O'Sullivan holds a bachelor's of science degree in civil engineering
from the University of Notre Dame and a master's degree in business
administration from the University of Chicago.
    FPL Energy is a leading independent producer of clean energy, including
natural gas, wind, solar and hydroelectric.  It owns power plants with more
than 4,300 total net megawatts in 13 states across the country.  New projects
the company has announced will add nearly 6,000 megawatts of capacity to its
