Dana's sealing systems, piston rings, and pump products operations each
earned the award, presented by TRITEC Motors, a joint venture between BMW
and DaimlerChrysler based in Brazil. TRITEC manufactures engines for the
BMW Mini, made in the United Kingdom; DaimlerChrysler's PT Cruiser,
assembled in Mexico; and the Chery A15, produced in China.
Throughout 2005, supplier performance was evaluated in logistics,
sales, and quality. Awards were conferred upon those suppliers that
presented a performance rate of at least 92 percent in each of the
criteria.
The piston rings product group obtained the gold award for excellence
in all fields - quality, logistics, and sales. The pump products group was
recognized with the silver award for its outstanding performance on quality
and logistics. And the sealing systems group won the bronze award for
excellence in quality requirements, which include PPM levels and the
minimizing of downtime.
"Dana is again honored to be acknowledged by such an important partner,
with whom it has maintained a close relationship since its inception. In
addition to designing the water, oil, and power steering pumps for this
engine, Dana assisted in the development of the entire sealing system,"
said Dana's vice president of operations for South America, Jader
Hilzendeger. "Earning the TRITEC Supplier of the Year award for the second
consecutive year acknowledges the importance of our partnership and our
commitment to providing top-quality products and service."
Dana developed the integrated water-power steering pump, a unique
product that was designed specifically for TRITEC. Dana also designed and
manufactured the thermoplastic oil-pan gaskets, cylinder-head gaskets,
exhaust gaskets, thermoplastic cylinder-head covers, oil seals, sealing
rings, and caps for the engine.
