following monthly activity for the period ended June 30, 2002:
* Total trades per day averaged 90,700. This is a 3% decrease from
May 2002, and 10% lower than June 2001.
* Total customer assets were $131 billion as of June 30, 2002, down
5% from May 2002 and a 6% decrease from June 2001.
* New accounts opened totaled 27,900. This is a 13% decrease from
May 2002 and 19% lower than June 2001.
* Margin loans were $3.4 billion at June 30, 2002, an 8% decrease from
a month earlier and a decrease of 23% from June 30, 2001.
* In the early part of July 2002, the firm has experienced no
substantial change in trades per day activity from the previous
month's average.
