Allstate Texas Agents, Employees Raise $54,890 for American Red Cross Flood Relief

    IRVING, Texas, July 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Allstate Insurance Company today
presented $54,890 to the Greater Houston Area Chapter of the American Red
Cross to assist flood victims in the aftermath of Tropical Storm Allison.
    "Allstate is a company that cares, which is evident every day in the
actions of our agents and employees," said Gary Briggs, Allstate field vice
president.  "We are elated to supplement the incredible efforts of the
American Red Cross with a gift that will help those impacted by the flood."
    Individual monetary gifts from Allstate agents and employees in Texas were
bolstered with a grant from The Allstate Foundation.  "One of the goals of The
Allstate Foundation is to revitalize neighborhoods," Briggs said.  "We hope
our company's contribution will help flood victims revitalize their spirit, as
well as their homes and communities."
    Founded in 1952, The Allstate Foundation is an independent corporation
funded by contributions from Allstate Insurance Company.  The Foundation works
in concert with Allstate by aligning with the company's major focus areas:
personal safety and security, neighborhood revitalization, and financial
planning and education.  Through a corporate committee and field office grant
committees, The Foundation funds more than 1,000 programs each year and
currently has an annual budget of $7 million.
