Support for RSA SecurID(R) two-factor authentication in ISA Server 2004 helps
protect customers against enterprise security threats
BEDFORD, Mass., July 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- RSA Security Inc.
(Nasdaq: RSAS) today announced that Microsoft's Internet Security and
Acceleration (ISA) Server 2004 supports the RSA SecurID(R) two-factor
authentication solution, which helps provide a secure, simple and highly
reliable way to verify a user's identity before granting access to network
resources.
ISA Server 2004 - now available - is an advanced application layer
firewall, VPN and Web cache solution that enables customers to easily maximize
existing IT investments by improving network security and performance.
RSA Security and Microsoft worked closely together to enable ISA Server
2004 customers to take advantage of RSA SecurID capabilities, which is
engineered to ensure that valuable desktop and network resources are
accessible only by authorized users, while simultaneously delivering a
simplified and consistent user log-in experience. This integration work also
makes it simple to deploy ISA Server 2004 in RSA SecurID environments to help
better protect applications.
Today's announcement builds on the new RSA SecurID(R) for Microsoft(R)
Windows(R) solution, available later this year through RSA Security, which is
designed to provide Microsoft customers with a simple, consistent user login
experience, regardless of whether the user is working on- or offline, remotely
or inside the walls of the enterprise.
"In today's IT environment, with the sophistication of attacks growing
each year, companies need to know that they have a high degree of control over
who can access network resources and which resources they're entitled to use,"
said Bill McQuaide, senior vice president, enterprise solutions, RSA Security.
"ISA Server 2004 working with RSA SecurID technology offers customers a
powerful solution for a more secure and trusted network environment."
"Customers tell us they need more seamless integration between their
authentication infrastructures and perimeter security solutions," said David
Gardner, business development manager of the Security Business and Technology
Unit at Microsoft Corp. "Our integration work with RSA Security makes it
easier for customers to deploy ISA Server 2004 to help protect new and
existing applications in RSA SecurID environments."
RSA Security and Microsoft have collaborated on security projects since
1996 when Microsoft licensed RSA BSAFE(R) technology to build strong
encryption into its products. The companies have also worked together on many
other development, marketing and sales initiatives, and RSA Security is a
Microsoft Gold Certified Partner.
About RSA SecurID Two-Factor Authentication
The RSA SecurID system is a two-factor user authentication solution that
is as simple to use as entering a password, but significantly more secure.
Used in conjunction with RSA ACE/Server(R) software, an RSA SecurID
authenticator functions like an ATM card for a company network, requiring
users to identify themselves with two unique factors -- something they know (a
password or PIN), and something they have (in this case, an RSA SecurID token
that generates a unique six digit passcode every minute) -- before they are
granted access to secure business information.
