Gateway Selects North Sioux City, South Dakota, as Home for New Best Practices Tech Support Facility

Innovative Best Practices Center, Staffed by Gateway Employees, Will
Provide Direct Touch Point With Customers and Create a Rapid Feedback Loop
                       for New Products and Services

NORTH SIOUX CITY, S.D., July 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Gateway Inc.,
the nation's third largest PC company, today announced that North Sioux
City, S.D., already home to nearly 1,000 employees, was selected as the
location for an innovative new technical support center that will be fully
functional in the third quarter of 2006. First-year employment in the
facility is expected to grow to more than 130 people.
The Best Practices Center (BPC) will enable Gateway to better serve its
customers by bringing together state-of-the-art analytics, tools,
technology and people to create service and support-related "best
practices" that reinforce the company's long-standing commitment to
continuous improvement on customer satisfaction. The BPC will also provide
Gateway's product development and quality assurance teams with field data
and customer input that can be used to enhance current and future product
offerings.
"In a return to our roots, Gateway is once again taking an innovative
approach to customer service and differentiating itself from the
competition with a common sense strategy that will meet customer demands,"
said Rick Snyder, Gateway's chairman and interim chief executive officer.
"While our competitors continue to go off-shore to save service costs,
Gateway is renewing its commitment to quality through investment in
experienced, well-trained and dedicated support agents."
"We are pleased that Gateway has chosen South Dakota for its most
recent expansion," said South Dakota Gov. Mike Rounds. "Companies like
Gateway are experiencing first hand that when they do business in South
Dakota, they have access to the most dedicated, prepared workers in the
world and a business climate that maximizes profits."
"We want to thank Governor Rounds and state and local officials in
South Dakota for working with us on this important project," said Snyder.
"Since 1985, we've worked closely with many great leaders in the region and
are delighted to once again tap into the highly qualified Siouxland
workforce as we grow."
In addition to the state of South Dakota, the City of North Sioux City
and the Siouxland Initiative were key partners in attracting this important
project.
