FULLERTON, Calif., July 14 /PRNewswire/ -- An eight-foot Boeing 777-200
aircraft model, featuring a mosaic design by 400 enthusiastic students from
Golden Hill Elementary in Fullerton, CA, is going on a special tour to
airports, museums and corporate lobbies this month.

The 1/25 scale aircraft model was donated by local-based aircraft model
manufacturer Pacific Miniatures which came up with the idea to encourage
children to have a positive view of air travel following the atrocities of
9/11. The model's first presentation will be at the Muckenthaler Cultural
Center in Fullerton, where it will be on display through October 5. (See

"We work with aircraft forms and shapes every day and see the beauty and
future in them. By working on this project, elementary school-aged children
were able to appreciate the positive aspects of aircraft and help remove the
painful memory of 9/11," says Fred Ouweleen, Jr., owner of Pacific Miniatures.
The children's inspiration came from the lyrics to John Lennon's song
"Imagine." The group spent three months gluing some 2,500 buttons, fast-food
giveaways, watches, pins, glass and their own ceramic creations covering every
square millimeter of the fiberglass canvas. The project was mentored and
supervised by Katherine England, a local artist and school volunteer, who is
devoted to children's creative expression.
The aircraft will be retrofitted for travel with removable handles and a
custom crate for shipping. Ouweleen envisions a fleet of 20 to 25 art
airliners traveling internationally, each from a community of children
somewhere in the world. PacMin will shortly begin marketing the concept to
companies who may like to support the program.
Corporate or individual benefactors are being sought to underwrite or
purchase the art sculpture and keep it on tour as an inspiration of the magic
of imagination and creativity. All proceeds will help to fund "All the Arts
for All the Kids" classes. This innovative arts education program touches the
lives of each of the 10,500 kindergarten through sixth grade children in 17
elementary schools in the Fullerton School District.
