private owner of grocery anchored Necessity Retail(R) Centers, today announced
the acquisition of seven Giant Food-anchored shopping centers in the
Washington, DC, market. Comprising 653,000 square feet, the centers were
purchased from GFS, the real estate arm of Giant Food of Landover, Maryland.
According to Jodie W. McLean, President and Chief Investment Officer of
Edens & Avant, the acquisition complements Edens & Avant's existing holdings
and boosts the Company's ownership position to 36 assets in the Mid-Atlantic
Region.
The portfolio of seven Giant Food-anchored shopping centers is
strategically located across the Washington, DC, metropolitan statistical area
(MSA), and include Cardinal Forest, Elden Street Marketplace and Lake Ridge
Commons in Fairfax County; Wellington Station in Prince William County;
Burtonsville Crossing and Neelsville Village Center in Montgomery County; and
Marlboro Crossroads in Prince George's County.
