LOS ANGELES, July 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Sprite Animation Studios today
announced that it will premiere the original short film, "Journey to the West"
at the 2005 SIGGRAPH Computer Animation Festival's Animation Theater.
"Journey to the West" is directed by Moto Sakakibara and produced by Junichi
Yanagihara and Kyoko Aihara.
With its beautiful use of color and funky pop images, "Journey to the
West" is a brilliant demonstration of Sprite Animation Studios' imaginative
creative abilities. The scene takes place in a mysterious world called
Nirvana Land, which resembles a meditative state of Buddha, and where
mechanimals (mechanical animals) and various yoh-kai (Asian spirit monster)
freely roam about.
"'Journey to the West'" is a short which was inspired by an ancient
Chinese tale," said Sakakibara. "I'm thrilled at the opportunity to showcase
our production capabilities this at this year's SIGGRAPH Animation Theater,
especially since we are currently in production of our first
feature film GON."
