American Pacific Corporation Welcomes Astronaut William Readdy to Farnborough International Airshow

    LAS VEGAS, July 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- American Pacific
Corporation ("AMPAC") (Nasdaq: APFC) is pleased to welcome William Readdy,
NASA Astronaut (retired) and Senior Advisor to the President of AMPAC, to
the Farnborough International Airshow. Mr. Readdy will be in attendance at
the AMPAC exhibit, located within the AIA Pavilion in Hall 3, Stand B25,
Wednesday, July 19th and Thursday, July 20th.
    Mr. Readdy graduated in 1974 from the U.S. Naval Academy, receiving a
Bachelor of Science Degree in Aerospace Engineering (with honors). Upon his
graduation from Annapolis in 1974, Mr. Readdy earned his wings as a naval
aviator. Following fleet training in the A-6 Intruder at NAS Oceana,
Virginia, he was deployed to the USS Forrestal in the North Atlantic and
Mediterranean from 1976 to 1980. He completed test pilot training in 1981,
as a distinguished graduate of the U.S. Naval Test Pilot School. Following
test pilot duty, Mr. Readdy deployed in 1984 aboard USS Coral Sea.
    In 1986 Mr. Readdy joined NASA-JSC as a research pilot and was selected
as an astronaut in the 1987 Group. He is a veteran pilot astronaut with
three Shuttle flights and has logged more than 672 hours in space. He has
logged over 7,000 flight hours in over 70 types of fixed wing and rotary
aircraft, and more than 550 carrier landings.
    In 1998, Mr. Readdy was appointed Deputy Associate Administrator for
Space Shuttle, based at NASA Headquarters. He was later promoted to
Associate Administrator for Space Operations, with oversight for
International Space Station, Space Shuttle, Space Communications and Launch
Vehicles. Mr. Readdy left NASA in 2005 to start a firm focused on strategic
planning, risk management, safety and emerging technology solutions to
aerospace and high-tech industries.
    Mr. Readdy is the recipient of numerous honors, including the Legion of
Merit, Distinguished Flying Cross, two NASA Distinguished Service Medals,
three NASA Outstanding Leadership Medals, two NASA Exceptional Service
Medals, three NASA Space Flight Medals, and a number of Navy and NASA
commendations.
