RENO, Nev., July 15 /PRNewswire/ -- As expected, due to the second and
third quarter schedule restructuring, Reno Air, Inc. (Nasdaq: RENO; PCX: RNO)
today announced that June traffic was down 9.2% from the prior year to
458,667 passengers. Load factor was 69.3%, down 3.9 points.
"These results were anticipated and are reflective of the schedule changes
that we designed to improve profitability," said Senior Vice President
Marketing and Planning Joanne Smith.
Reno Air is flying two less aircraft and ceased service to five cities.
It has also refocused flying to improve connections on the West Coast and
optimize city frequency. This has resulted in a better allocation of
resources matching schedules to customer demand.
During this period, the airline also concentrated on improving its
product. On-time arrivals at 87.7% in May outperformed the best of the major
airlines by four points, according to Department of Transportation statistics.
June on-time arrivals show similar performance. A program to improve aircraft
appearance is showing results, and revised staffing in reservations and
customer service as well as new training programs are improving service for
the customer.
"Things are coming into place," said Smith. "Our costs have been reduced
significantly, the operation streamlined, and our customers are seeing the
difference. The summer looks good and we are on track for a profitable year."
