Raytheon Names Marchilena to Head Discontinued Engineering and Construction Operations

    LEXINGTON, Mass., July 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --
Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) has appointed Frank Marchilena as head of its
discontinued operations, including oversight of two Massachusetts construction
projects that the company is responsible for completing. Marchilena, 56, was
formerly president of Raytheon's Command, Control, Communication and
Information Systems (C3I) business. In his new role, Marchilena will continue
to report to Raytheon's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Daniel P.
Burnham.
The projects are part of Raytheon's discontinued operations and are
connected to the company's obligation to perform under guarantee obligations
made prior to the sale of its engineering and construction business in July of
2000.
"The future of our business lies in our defense and commercial operations,
but the credibility of our company is tied to the timely and efficient
completion of these projects," said Burnham. "Frank will help ensure that we
are doing everything possible to complete these projects within the scope of
our latest estimates. This is a tough assignment, and I appreciate Frank
taking it on," Burnham added.
Marchilena brings 35 years of experience in Raytheon and strong expertise
in program management to the assignment. Prior to serving as president of
C3I, he held important leadership roles across the company, including in
Training and Services, engineering and manufacturing, Patriot international
programs, and Raytheon Electronic Systems laboratories.
Marchilena succeeds Phil LePore in oversight of Raytheon's discontinued
operations. LePore, 58, who was formerly chief executive officer of Raytheon
Technical Services Company, has elected to retire after a long and successful
career.
With headquarters in Lexington, Mass., Raytheon Company is a global
technology leader in defense, government and commercial electronics, and
business and special mission aircraft.
