Westinghouse Appoints Vice President, Strategy

    PITTSBURGH, July 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Westinghouse Electric Company has
announced that Joseph Belechak, 47, has joined the company as Vice
President, Strategy. He will report directly to Steve Tritch, President and
CEO.
    Mr. Belechak will have overall responsibility for strategic planning,
with emphasis on Westinghouse strategic initiatives in the areas of
flawless products and performance, growth through alliances and
acquisitions, and increased market share.
    As head of the Westinghouse Strategic Council, he will work closely
with Westinghouse's three business units, Nuclear Fuel, Nuclear Services
and Nuclear Power Plants, to ensure effective integration and maximization
of all Westinghouse strategic growth initiatives.
    He will also lead a comprehensive effort to identify opportunities to
leverage the strengths and capabilities of Westinghouse's parent company,
Toshiba Corporation.
    In making the announcement, Mr. Tritch said: "Joe is a versatile,
strategic and operational senior executive with 25 years of energy industry
experience and achievement in the electric utility industry. He will play a
major role in our overall effort to maintain and expand Westinghouse's
historic leadership role in the worldwide commercial nuclear power
industry."
    Mr. Belechak comes to Westinghouse from Duquesne Light Company, where
his most recent assignments were as chief operations officer, Duquesne
Light Holdings, and president of Duquesne Light's Landfill Gas,
Communications, Energy Services and Synthetic Fuel Operations.
    He was a triple major at Carnegie Mellon University, where he earned
Bachelor of Science degrees in civil engineering, industrial management and
economics. He also holds an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh and is a
graduate of the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business
Advanced Management Program.
