FARNBOROUGH, England, July 16 /PRNewswire/ -- AVIATION WEEK and
Farnborough International have presented the 2008 John Curtis Sword Award
to Gordon F. Page, former chairman and current non-executive director of
Cobham, a U.K.-based defense contractor. Page was recognized for his
significant service and contribution to Anglo/U.S. relations in aerospace.
The Curtis Sword is presented biennially to the person or persons who best
demonstrate transatlantic leadership and cooperation.
"During his tenure as chief executive and chairman, Gordon Page
established Cobham more solidly in the U.S. by forging close links with the
Department of Defense and by working with and acquiring companies," said
AVIATION WEEK President Tom Henricks as he presented the award. "Through
Mr. Page's leadership, Cobham is now a recognized contractor to the
Department of Defense."
In addition to serving as non-executive director until he retires in
November 2008, Page holds a variety of chairman and director roles in
government, business and education. He is also a past-president of the
Royal Aeronautical Society, The Society of British Aerospace Companies Ltd.
and the Chartered Management Institute.
The award is named for John Curtis, former U.K. Marketing Director of
Aviation Week & Space Technology. AVIATION WEEK established the award to
remember Curtis' spirit and vision. It was presented Monday, July 14, at
