COLUMBIA, Md., July 17 /PRNewswire/ -- GSE Systems, Inc. (GSE)
(Amex: GVP), a leading global provider of real time simulation and process
control solutions announced several new contract awards for its D/3 system
from Miller Brewing Company, Eastman Chemical Company's Tennessee Operations,
and Cargill.
GSE's long-standing customers continue to upgrade and expand their control
systems to take advantage of the enhanced features and capabilities of the new
D/3 and VPbatch process control solutions.
Miller Brewing Company awarded GSE a contract at Miller's Irwindale
California brewery to expand the current automation infrastructure using the
D/3 system. The D/3 System will control a complex package release matrix
valve operation. Over the past 10 years, Miller has standardized its
brewhouse and cold service automation systems on the D/3 System, which has
played a key role in its success as the industry's lowest cost producer. "We
are pleased to continue our automation expansion initiatives using the D/3
System and GSE's industry knowledgeable applications engineering team," said
Miller's Martin J. Costello, Vice President, Engineering.
GSE Systems has been working closely with Eastman Chemical Company to
provide automation solutions for over 20 years. According to Allen
Weidenbach, Polymer Information Technology Services Group Leader, "Eastman
Chemical Company has successfully implemented the GSE Systems FlexBatch
software in several batch manufacturing areas at Eastman's Kingsport,
Tennessee site. FlexBatch implementation has allowed us to reduce batch cycle
times, improve product quality, and reduce manufacturing costs. A contract
has been awarded to GSE for hardware and software to implement VPbatch in a
batch polymers manufacturing area at the Kingsport site in the near future."
The Cargill Riverview facility in Tampa Florida has been using D/3
software since 1986, and upgraded their system to GSE's Windows NT based D/3
Version 10.2 in April 2001. The system has 37 Operator Consoles that control
the entire plant, including the Sulfuric Acid Plant, Phosphoric Acid Plant,
and the Granular Fertilizer Process.
Of particular interest to Cargill were the ControlNet interface, Alarm
Management, and D/3 Architect improvements made in D/3 Version 10.2. Mark
Cave at Cargill said "The D/3 Version 10 product was a well designed and
tested product that made it easy to transfer from the VMS Products."
